Our Services

We want families and friends to be able to maintain their usual relationships with the individual that needs support, and for us to come in and support when tasks become personally challenging or difficult.

We are able to assist with activities from personal care to companionship in a person-centred way that suits the individual and their circumstances. At By Your Side, all you have to do is ask, and we will do everything we can to meet your needs and requests. We are also proud to be flexible and offer last minute support in those emergency or desperate situations that can arise.

The services we provide at By Your Side are fully regulated and we have an outstanding rating from Care Quality Commission which means we provide the very highest in care standards.

COMPANIONSHIP CALLS

Offering support and companionship for individuals. This includes breaks for carers or carrying out calls to meet daily needs such as personal care and medication.

Live-In Care

Bespoke 24-hour care service for individuals who need to have someone with them full-time.

This service is often provided on a short-term basis to give the family carer a break or as part of the recovery from an accident or illness where additional support is needed.

There are a few different models that respite can take, these are:

  • Live-in Care – where the carer lives in your home and is there for day and night support as it is needed
  • Extra daily support – this includes additional hours for support during the day
  • Night Support – this can include waking night sits or sleeping night sits where we have a team member stay the night for support during the night

It is essential to recognise that family carers need to have a rest and time for themselves in order to support the individuals or loved one they live with. No one is able to offer 24-hour care for someone and remain at their best. When respite is needed, it is usually a massive decision for families to make with the option usually offered for a residential home. Respite care is really important for a full-time carer and often they will put this off because they worry that the care offered in the residential home will not be what their loved one is used to and it also means moving them to unfamiliar places which with someone with Dementia we know can be very unsettling and often with permanent lasting effects. By Your Side are able to come into your home and take over from the full-time carer and this benefits the individual as it means little or no change to what they are used to on a daily basis. They are able to stay in their familiar surroundings which allows the loved one to take a holiday or just some time out.

Similar to our Respite Support service By Your Side are able to arrange for carers to take an active role with an individual that requires support following an operation, surgery, illness or injury. Often families need support for individuals following a discharge from hospital or following a bout of illness where extra support is needed. By Your Side can provide the extra support for the individual through recovery or support whilst they are adjusting to extra medication, new equipment or just the change to daily routine that may have been caused by the indecent.

There are a few different models that reablement can take, these are:

  • Live-in Care – where the carer lives in your home and is there for day and night support as it is needed
  • Extra daily support – this includes additional hours for support during the day
  • Night Support – this can include waking night sits or sleeping night sits where we have a team member stay the night for support during the night

By Your Side are able to provide support to individuals throughout the night. This could be a waking night or sleeping night. Often people struggle in the night and need support to go to the toilet or they have a disturbed sleeping pattern following and illness or stay in hospital. Feeling confused and disorientated often leads to falls in the night.

By Your Side can provide a carer to support the individuals needs to keep them safe and supported and to carry out tasks they may need in the night. This can offer a night’s sleep to a fulltime carer who has been struggling with day and night care for a loved one, a short-term solution to help someone return to a normal sleeping routine or a permanent solution for those individuals who are constantly up through the night.

We recognise that many peoples last wishes are to be at home when their illness is terminal. People want to be in their own surroundings and with their families at the end of their life. It is a very emotional time for them and their families and can be very emotive. At By Your Side we will be with individuals from diagnosis to the end of their life.

During our palliative and end of life support we work alongside the professionals that may be needed to provide medicinal and therapeutic needs that fall outside our services. We want our individuals and their families to know we won’t leave them at this difficult time but stay by your side until the inevitable happens.

We will also be there following the death of someone to support those left behind until our service and companionship is no longer needed. We are able to assist with physical and emotional support as it is needed and can offer all our other services during this difficult time.
